DESCRIPTION OF THE GITE

DOWNSTAIRS

Open plan KITCHEN/LOUNGE Double sink; gas hob; electric oven/grill; toaster; microwave; fridge-freezer; slimline dishwasher; washing machine; and good quality cutlery, crockery, glassware and cooking utensils.

In the Lounge area is a 2 seater sofa, 2 armchairs, combi-TV (satellite), DVD player and extendable coffee/dining table.

Log flame effect electric fire in the stone fireplace.
SHOWER ROOM with wash hand-basin and wc.

Upstairs

Large BEDROOM with a double and single bed; bedside table(s), chest of drawers and wardrobe.

A pair of french doors lead out onto the raised balcony giving magnificent uninterrupted views over unspoilt Anjou vineyards, farmland and countryside with the hilltop village of Le Puy Notre Dame in the distance. There is a table and chairs for your al-fresco dining.

Private Garden At the side of and behind the Cottage is a small garden with an umbrella washing line. From here you have your own entrance onto the main back garden and the swimming pool.

Heating Downstairs is an electric fire in the stone fireplace; Upstairs is an electric radiator.

SWIMMING POOL
10mx5m with roman steps and underwater lighting. Depths
from 1m /1.7m. Pool heated to 28 deg c from May to September.
The pool is lined so no sharp objects are allowed in or around the
pool. Some pool games equipment provided.

GARDEN & POOL FURNITURE
Picnic tables, deck chairs, sun umbrellas, sun loungers,
charcoal BBQ

TENNIS COURT
Acrylic surface. We insist on non-marking proper tennis
shoes being worn.

 

SECURITY & SAFETY
Smoke detectors, first aid kit, kitchen fire blanket & fire extinguisher, upstairs floor level windows
have adjustable openers and childproof locks can be provided. There is a small electronic safe in the house for your use.

WATER
Extremely good mains pressure. Drinkable tap water.

ELECTRICITY
240V 50Hz i.e. same as UK but need adapters as French sockets are different from UK.

PARKING Ample parking available on gravel drive/

For all our B&B, Farmhouse and Cottage Gite guests we offer:-

Optional Evening Meal including local wine @ 20 €uros (approx. £14).

Guests requesting an evening meal are asked to let us know in advance of anything they do not wish to eat.
The meals are 'Tables d'Hôte' style, which means that normally there is not a choice of menu.

DETAILS OF CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST & SAMPLE MENUS:

Continental breakfast: Orange or apple juice; yogurt; fresh warm french bread and warm croissants;
choice of jams; honey; marmalade; tea of coffee.
2 large eggs with toast, scrambled, fried or boiled = 1.5 €uros extra per person.
We are happy for you to supply your own cereal and we will supply you with your milk free of charge.


DINNER MENUS

1st course examples:-

  1. Green salad with smoked salmon, fresh herbs and dressing served with fresh bread and butter.
  2. Green salad with avocado pear, fresh herbs, chopped walnuts and dressing, served with fresh bread and butter.
  3. Hot savoury tart with green salad and fresh bread and butter.
  4. Pate/cold meats bought locally, with fresh bread and butter.

2nd course examples:-

  1. Chicken breasts, pan-fried with garlic in a crème-fraiche and mustard sauce served with new potatoes and fresh vegetables.
  2. Coq au Vin served with creamed potatoes or rice.
  3. Tasty Pork casserole served with creamed potatoes or rice and fresh vegetables.
  4. Beef Bourguignon served with creamed potatoes and fresh vegetables.
  5. Salmon or Trout fillet pan fried/steamed served with potato 'dauphinois' and fresh vegetables.
  6. Salads with meat or fish or eggs of various descriptions by request.

3rd course examples:-

  1. Fresh fruit salad with crème fraiche.
  2. Tarte de Citron with single cream or crème fraiche.
  3. Crème Brulee
  4. Fresh fruit flan with single cream or crème fraiche.
  5. Home made chocolate gateau with single cream or crème fraiche

4th course:-

  • Selection of cheeses with fresh bread or french-style biscuits.

An aperitif, local white wine, red wine or french beer, and coffee or tea included.
