Quince, Bauge, Loudon (near Fontevraud) and Cholet.
Several a little further away at Angers. All
open to the public, in very good condition and booking
not usually necessary. Approx 20-30 €uros
per round (some courses cost more in school holidays).

Bikes available from hire shop in Doué-La-Fontaine
for around 8 €uros per day.

long duration around our area and beyond.

10 cinemas - light and sound extravaganza. "A good
day out for all but the very young". Impossible
to do all in one day. Sometimes crowded.

Châteaux:

Architecturally stunning and steeped
in history, found throughout the Loire Valley. Many
of the most famous ones are accessible within 30mins
- 2 hour drive. Most open most of the year.

Wine-tasting:
|
Available all over the area and open all
year. Local viticulturist at Bouillé-Loretz
mentioned in one of our wine books. Several
sparkling wine houses in Saumur open for tours and tasting

Zoo:
|
World renowned conservation/breeding zoo
at Doué-La-Fontaine (15mins drive). Our suggestion:
go in the morning, get a pass out for lunch and go back
in the afternoon for feeding time. Beautifully
landscaped.

Birdwatching:
|
Abundance of bird-life.
|
|
Music:
|
Occasional classical music concerts especially
good at Fontevraud Abbey where Henry II and Richard
the Lionheart are buried (30mins drive).

Troglodyte Caves:
|
Caves and underground dwellings particularly
around Doué-La-Fontaine and Saumur.
|
|
Roses:
|
Famous in this area especially at Doué-La-Fontaine.
Nurseries and gardens to visit.

Mushroom Farms:
|
Largest growing area in France. Visit
and at some taste in their own restaurants. Mushroom
museum in Saumur very popular with children.

Fishing:
|
Local lakes and rivers. A
licence from the local town hall needed (small daily
charge).

Squash, Badminton and half-size tenpin
bowling: facilities near Thouars - 20mins drive. Hot
air balloon trips, silkworm farms, watermills/windmills,
